Jenine, you touched on so many aspects of the fires…personal, tragic, and still leaning into hope. And I was moved by the description of how stars are born. So many things have to come together and then comes the immense heat, ever increasing, as a baby star is born. You will get through this. Lots of baby stars are forming, disguised as everyday heroes. Prayers rising for you dear ones. And for California.
Love this piece so much. I am also one of those long-silenced singers who now remembers making it into a very competitive chorale group although I couldn't read music to save my life thanks to a kind and supportive assistant who liked my natural vibrato and contribution to the second soprano section. I remember a voice class long ago where I was the only non-music major in the classroom and also the only person who sang a song that everyone chimed in on -- think of the Sweet Caroline singers in the commercial or the stadium singing TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROAD during the Super Bowl last night....So, for you and for my own sanity, I will sing in all my endeavors....

Thx, Camille. The rent gouging is beginning. So we need a monster-star landlord to spark! xoxo
Exciting adventures ahead for you, Jeni - the Substack AND the singing. :)
Congrats on the solo act, Jeni!
Thanks, Sam. It is a little scary but you're definitely a poet/writer who inspired me.
I’ll sing right along with you! Excited to see all of the notes and to hear them kiss the lyrics. Thanks for sharing. 🙏❤️
Thanks for reading. Now need to focus on getting the word out!
😎 thanks for the encouragement
